Harvest 2011

Picture
Here at Poverty Ridge Cranberries we have come full circle with another cranberry harvest.

We started the harvest the second week of November and with the help of family and friends we finished a week later, just in time for some great fishing on the Elk River.

The harvest went smooth; we were able to flood two bogs at a time with the extra water we aquired and recycled as a result of our spring heagate project and some early fall rains.

The crop on the 4 established bogs came in above average, which was a relief after last years record low production.

After waiting the 3 years to harvest our two new bogs, we were pleased with the better-than-average crop and it's outstanding fruit size and color.

We have just had the bogs prunned and will finish up the year by putting the sprinkerlers back in, pulling a few weeds, and watch it start all over again.

We are looking forward to 2012 and all it has to offer!

Cheers!

Jim & Katie
